Genesee relaunched Genny Cream Ale in its original packaging recently. This was "garage beer" for our dads; along with Golden Annivarsary - also brewed in Rochester, NY by Genesee I believe?? Anyhow, saw it offered recently in Somerville and jumped on it - shocked and pleasantly surpised to see the icon-centered design come back. Looks like a railway car. They are bringing back stubby 12oz bottles too I guess, as below.

i like those bottles, similar to the Hulls (old new haven, ct brewery) bottles I find in my stone wall from time to time. Those new cans are not around here yet. Decent "garage beer" as you put it. My go to is the 24pk of Black Label. Hard to beat for the price
One of the very few things I don't like about being a Canadian is our high beer prices. I grew up about 2 hours from the Buffalo boarder and at least a few times a year we would head over for some wings, ice cream and an hour or two of hitting the malls. I always will remember my Mom and Dad having a pitcher or two of genny cream ale (this before I was drinking age) along with the wings. Now to keep with traditions in my older years, regardless if I am with family or friends, we usually find time for a pitcher and with it being under 15 bucks for 30 cans, I generally try to smuggle back as much as I can without getting nailed at the boarder. You got me thinking about a trip to the land of cheap beer and tobacco products...
12oz bottles? Genny is supposed to come in pounders.
Nice to see. I am definitely going on the hunt for these. There's nothing finer than the stubby and I think it's primed for a comeback.
I am from Rochester and Genny Light and Genny Cream was what I grew up drinking. Solid light beers at a great price. We used to get the 30 racks for 10.99 on sale at Wegmans. Good call on the retro cans. They look beast.
PITCHERS OF GENNY AT A FRIDAY NIGHT FISH FRY IS LIKE NO OTHER.
PS ART-POUNDERS ONLY CAME IN THE REG GENNY BREW
Anyone seen these around Quincy? Otherwise, where do I have to go in Somerville?
My fav! ;-)
Oh but Genny never went away my friend...
