10E2376: Reblog - Yahweh
This band is not together anymore don't think... but in honor of Glasgow currently holding the Commonwealth Games (kind-of Olympics for former British colonies basically, except Americas) am reposting this from 2010... great wee tune.
Yahweh frontman Lewis Cook creates most recordings himself -but a band of violin, cello and gizmos recreate and reinterpret them live.
The track above is from a split 7" single released w/ another Scottish band, Trapped In Kansas. Yes, Scots love American imagery as much as Americans romanticize the Scots. [N.B. scotch is a drink... the Scots are a people -ed.] If any reader can honestly remember the old Dukes Bar in Glasgow (decorated w/ John Wayne posters and USA license plates) I swear I'll send them a puredeadbrilliant hat. Was probably the only place in the UK to serve Rolling Rock at that time.
The music was described as minimal soundscapes, tarnished electronica, or alt-folk. I get into that sort of thing. Laptop-folk doesn't sound so great but probably not far away. Releases on vinyl, like here, are not uncommon between all these little [almost said wee again didn't you -ed.] collectives. Couldn't embed, but another of theirs here; Laps(e).

10E2374: Fridays Are Tie Days - Knottery Raw Silk
New from The Knottery - Navy (or burgundy) dotted, raw silk bowtie. Silk milled in England, 2" diamond tip/batwing shape. Sewn in Brooklyn. $38. Dry hand-feel, not slick like you might imagine - good. Update: I pounced on this w/ cold hard clams - this color sold out already... 5 other raw silk options though.

10E2373: The Fonz Motorcycles
Of course there is a site dedicated to the various motorcycles used by Henry Winkler as Arthur Fonzerelli / The Fonz / Fonzie on Happy Days. Fun fact, he couldn't ride a motorcycle, never could, and didn't. Actually that page part of a larger site dedicated to the first 3 seasons... the cool ones... of Happy Days.
The second bike was the most used, a silver painted Triumph TR5. The actual one below.
Sidenote: wasn't his apartment over the garage the jam? It even spawned a phrase in real estate; the Fonzie flat.

10E2372: Pimm'bledon
Robin Hood's Barn was a small series of clothing shops, one on Martha's Vineyard in Edgartown, MA. Recently turned these thrifted cords into shorts. 7" inseam. Waist tab. Preppy green to burn your eyes out.
Goes pretty well with mint in your Pimms. Cheers. #showleg
