Though Alistair Cooke spent most of his professional life in the US (travelling, and creating his Letters to America series) he may be more recognizable to under 40s for hosting MasterPiece Theater on PBS for those many years. A traditional, Anglo, transatlantic-preppy combination of blue blazer and grey flannel trousers w /turnback scuffs/links plus repp tie- was his uniform.
