Just recently started to keep a little bit of salt and pepper going, on the side, before cooking dinner. Insanely handy. My world has been altered. Big peppercorn fan and no way would I buy/use a shaker of pre-ground pepper, but this feels different... Plus you get to do sumo-esqe salt/pepper throwing from on high into your pan. Bonus; if you have soft boiled eggs for breakfast the sideshow of S&P is ready to go. Further reading: Salt: a World History. A good read, same guy that wrote Cod.

Get some fleur de sel if you don't have it already. It will make you smile. I have as many salts as I do mustards. people think I'm crazy.
There's no other way to do it! As of late, I've started to really take time and care in the prep work — having all my ingredients portioned, cut, and cleaned, ready for to be cooked (as a professional chef would). It's changed my life. Makes everything so much easier and organized.
Salt - A good read if you've not been able to fall asleep for three days! I couldn't get past the first chapter after falling a sleep every attempt.. Dry as salt itself. But,I hear its a good book. :-)
