cowboy town

A photo set by Thomas Mcavoy from the Life archive. Shot in 1960 at [update: these were apparently not shot at Freedomtown in the Bronx accoring to Mike, admin of FreedomLand FB page] ...  Freedomland USA in the "Old Southwest" area. The girl in black above looks to be a freekin badass... The amount of checked shirts and whipstitched/fringed everything almost strains your eyes... fantastic. Forget not playing with guns, how about just not having guns at the table... OOOOKkayyy, since it's your birthday.

Love the Levis jacket on this last guy. Thx to JCrew we can all get one next fall...

stussy -madras

Must be cotton and made in India or it is not madras... that seems to be generally accepted. From the vault...older Stussy madras shirt, pre-1996, made in India (hat tip to SS for crossing the t's on that part) and nice details at sleeves. Got this on Nantucket 93/94?? Shop name escapes me but had a good little streetwear selection, (with the striped awning).

Like the top loop&button and/or flat collar on my casual shirts have to say... and as mentioned somewhere else yday it is good to have a shirt that doesn't clutch your arms. On a madras kick right now; any inexpensive ties or pocket ballast suggestions??

captain haddock

Re-reading some of the Tintin books to the youngsters I was surprised/amused/delighted to find that really, Haddock is the star... Lots of falldown humour at his expense (kids like when Haddock runs into doors, gets knocked over or his pipe burns in his pocket... man, they love that). Portraits above from the inside book flaps; print them and color for a rainy day activity.

[Potential spoiler alert] I had thought of Captain H perpetually in his naval sweater -for the books being filmed/animated (The Secret of the Unicorn and Red Rackham's Treasure) I hope they include the storyline where Haddock regains his family manor and assumes the role of the laird; with smoking jackets, riding gear and monocles. This is all accomplished in a semi-bumbling way (H needs a tray of monocles to keep up with his rate of loss; kids giggle again...) as well as copious bottles of whisky. See, something for everyone... Good stuff.

oss 117 -lost in rio

If you didn't see Cairo: Nest of Spies; check it (netflix instant even) -you are in for a treat. And now, Jean Dujardin (Agent Cent Dix-Sept) is back, but in Rio, in skinny suits and inappropriate laughter.... Lost in Rio coming out stateside.

parenting -upwords

How do you make anything good even gooder??? You make it 3D natch'... Scrabble goes 3D with Up-Words. Geddit? Love word games (hello Boggle...) and this could be good for young learners.

carhartt x charge

Have said before, I am not a die hard biker by any means, and not a fix fanatic either. For the files; found this new muted CarharttxCharge single/or/fixed release -via Freshness. The lady Juliet is a rider for Charge, but perhaps better recognized as a face for CarharttEurope.
