Generations of men have fished for the wild Atlantic salmon around Scotland's varied coastline but an industry which once supported thousands has virtually disappeared; due largely to precipitous drops in salmon numbers.
In the early 1990s, Colin McPherson embarked on a project photographing the salmon net fishermen. Shot on the panoramic beaches of north east Scotland, the documentary film Catching the Tide (2006) weaves together the story of the demise of this industry with Colin’s creative journey.
The film is a taster but better are Colin's photos. More at his site.
